Naima Yetunde Hammonds

Spoken Word Poet, Author, Playwright, Director.

Naima is a native of Brooklyn, New York, has been calling Raleigh, NC her home for almost a decade. Naima’s traveled throughout NYC and beyond performing poetry since 2004, she’s a five time published author, her latest undertaking, Pure, a poetic memoir that resonates deeply with readers, is a reflection of her outstanding talent and raw emotion, Pure was released November 3, 2020. As a playwright, Naima’s original one-act stage play was produced by the Cary Players in 2019 and went on to receive seven award nominations at the 2019 Annual Pietzsch Awards. Currently, Naima is working on a new play Cry Pray Put On Lipstick and is looking forward to the debut of this new stage play.  Other works include, producing projects with QHFILMS, such as the Men Always Leave television pilot and the N.Y.I Speaks Docu Series.
