Considering what Federico Fellini states, “What’s important is the way we say it. Art is all about craftsmanship. Others can interpret craftsmanship as style if they wish. Style is what unites memory or recollection, ideology, sentiment, nostalgia, presentiment, to the way we express all that. It’s not what we say but how we say it that matters.” The following workshop will focus on our imagistic obsession to consider new ways of rendering them fresh on the page. Workshop participants will examine various poets, read essays on poetic theories, and complete a series of exercises that enable them to capture the particularities of their obsessions. To write poems that belong to no one else but them.
